In February 2015, the Weathermatic team traveled to a rural village in Nicaragua to help local residents and a team from Living Water International drill a deep well to provide clean water for the village. Prior to the installation of the well, locals had to walk two miles to reach a source of clean water.
The project encountered some challenges when they hit a shallow aquifer that made continued drilling very difficult as the ground around the hole kept collapsing. The team worked all night to get around the problem. Once they finally hit deep water, they had to flush the well until the water ran clear. This led to the local children enjoying an unexpected water fight!
The Weathermatic team enjoyed a final home-cooked meal served in their honor by the villagers before heading back to the U.S. We’re sure everyone who participated will have some wonderful memories of their time in Nicaragua and the people they met. We thank you all for using your time and resources to give back.
