| Featured Project: The Governor's Mansion |
| Greenscape Inc. was chosen to redesign the front entrance garden of the Governors Mansion in 2004. At that time, plants were overgrown or not designed properly so maintaining them was a task. The First Lady and Grounds Manager for the mansion along with the Green Industry Council and local landscape companies got together to redo the entrances. The project was created to educate the public on low water usage. |
| The gardens needed to create an impressive entrance for those entering the mansion. Greenscape spent a significant amount of time figuring out sun patterns and microclimates of each corner to make sure the project was designed properly to reduce water usage. Flowering plants that were used included camellias, gardenias, Japanese maples, black mondo grass, coleus and sweet potato vine. The color schemes for the design included hot pink, a favorite of the first lady, chartreuse, deep green and black foliage or ornamental grass blooms. |
