Adam Southwell of Greenscape Inc. Passes the Test

Holly Springs, NC - Daniel Currin, President of Greenscape Inc. (www.greenscapeinc.com) today congratulated Green Team member Adam Southwell for being approved by the North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects to be a Registered Landscape Architect in the state. Minimum requirements include a specified course curriculum, least four years of industry experience and the successful completion the L.A.R.E. national exam.

"I've been working toward becoming a landscape architect for the past eight years," says Southwell. "I have received a lot of support from my team members here at Greenscape and am excited to have passed the Landscape Architect Registration Exam and met the requirements to be called a landscape architect." North Carolina requires landscape architects to be registered and certified to practice, with ongoing education requirements and mandatory annual license renewal.

"Greenscape has always been very focused on education," say Currin. "In addition to providing internal training on landscape-related topics, we encourage all Green Team members to pursue outside professional development opportunities. Becoming recognized in N.C. as a landscape architect involves a lot of effort. We congratulate Adam on this tremendous personal and professional accomplishment."

The North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects was established by legislation in 1969 to register professional landscape architects with the intent of protecting public health, safety and welfare. The Board oversees licensing and enforces a Code of Conduct for all members.

Tips for Winter

When the cold weather arrives, it's time to prepare your home for winter. Here are a few safety tips for your home:

If you have an irrigation system and it hasn't been winterized yet, you'll want to do that soon.

Remove hoses from outside hose bibs.

Close vents on homes with crawl spaces.

Have your heater checked by an HVAC professional.

Had your chimney cleaned recently?

Install a CO2 detector if you have natural gas coming into the home.

Replace the batteries in your smoke detectors annually.

Be extremely careful using portable heaters.

Never run a generator in an enclosed space.

Check the attic insulation to see if more would help keep your home warm and utility bill down.

These tips can help keep you safe over the cold winter to come!
