Irrigation Service Technician
Essential Functions:
Field Management
  • Maintains familiarity with each irrigation job's specifications and insures compliance
  • Determines priorities and division of irrigation service work on a daily basis to ensure timely customer service while maximizing client route
  • Insures that all equipment and materials (heads, nozzles, pipe, etc) are available in sufficient quantity to complete the days tasks
  • Departs the yard by designated time to insure maximum time available on clients site
  • Manages equipment needs and sees that all equipment is properly maintained
  • Communicates changes/adds with Irrigation Coordinator
  • Visits sites to evaluate quality of turf/beds and proper irrigation system maintenance
  • Sells minor enhancements to existing irrigation systems
  • Sells minor enhancements to existing lighting systems
  • Anticipates and solves problems before they occur
  • Responds quickly to problem areas
  • Coordinates with other Greenscape departments to resolve warranty issues
  • Coordinates with Irrigation Manager in the use of shared equipment as well as additional personnel needs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Irrigation Manager
Safety
  • Responsible for proper training in safety techniques and procedures to promote safety at all times
  • Includes in safety training the critical importance of safe material handling, proper equipment operation and the need for correct use of personal protective safety equipment and devices at all times
  • Demonstrates ability to safely operate equipment
  • Intervenes to prevent unsafe practices from occurring if observed
  • Understands and upholds all Greenscape safety standards per Greenscape policies including the Hazard Communications program

  • Consistently presents quality expectations/Greenscape standards to employees

Client Relations
  • Manages irrigation service packages for existing /new clients
  • Involves marketing irrigation services to new clients
  • Meets with client as required
  • Keeps clients informed of their services
  • Informs clients of any schedule changes
  • Responds to clients request in a timely fashion
  • Presents professional image and assures legendary customer service at all times
  • Anticipates clients needs in proactive manner
  • Resolves problems in a timely manner
Personnel Development
  • Understands and upholds Company mission and vision statement and company core values
  • May assist in training other irrigation service technicians and/or other personnel with irrigation responsibilities
  • Reviews work performance through self evaluation, employee performance planning with Irrigation Manager and feedback from clients or others they interact with
  • Monitors progress towards objectives and goals as outlined in the Crew Competency Plan
Administrative
  • Responsible for tracking labor and materials and processing proper paperwork (payroll timesheets, materials used, billing information, etc) in a timely manner
  • Tags equipment and completes and remits equipment repair sheets to Shop Manager/Shop technician for repairs needed in a timely manner
  • Informs Irrigation Manager of repair requests
  • Monitors irrigation materials in order to maintain efficient inventory levels
  • Conducts irrigation material inventory counts as requested by Controller
  • Works with Purchasing manager to order irrigation stock
  • Upholds the Greenscape uniform/dress code
  • Proactively supports and enforces company policies and procedures
  • Exemplifies the Principles and Values adopted by Greenscape

SKILLS
  • Demonstrated ability to read landscape and irrigation blue prints plans for comprehension and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability in irrigation system management, equipment operation and basic small engine field repair and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to read maps, give and follow clear directions
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) particularly for conveying technical information
  • Demonstrated positive approach towards customer service and coworkers
  • Must have a high level of motivation, enthusiasm, be a self-starter and perform daily under pressure.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision for extended periods of time
