Landscape Installation Foreman
Essential Functions:
Field Management
  • Maintains familiarity with each job's specifications and insures compliance
  • Determines the crews priorities, division of work and develops work plans for each position on a daily basis
  • Insures that all equipment and materials needed to complete the days tasks are loaded and/or being delivered to job site
  • Departs the yard by designated time to insure maximum time available on the job site
  • Analyzes blueprints, making on site changes and adjustments
  • Manages equipment needs and sees that all equipment is properly maintained
  • Communicates changes/adds with Sales and Production Manager
  • Answers crews questions and ensures that concerns are resolved in a timely manner
  • Anticipates and solves problems before they occur
  • Demonstrates ability to safely operate equipment
  • Responds quickly to problem areas

Safety
  • Assures that all staff are properly trained in safety techniques and procedures to promote safety of all
  • Includes in safety training the critical importance of safe material handling, proper equipment operation and the need for correct use of personal protective safety equipment and devices at all times
  • Observes crew members during daily operations and provides intervention and on site training when concerns relating to safety, proper equipment operation of handling of chemicals is noted
  • Conducts weekly tailgate safety meetings
  • Maintains safety policy at all times
Quality Control
  • Presents quality expectations/Greenscape standards to employees
  • Maintains a proactive approach to ensure the highest possible quality including only accepting quality plants and materials
  • Maintains jobs at above Greenscape quality standards
  • Trains employees in performance of quality work
Client Relations
  • Meets with client daily or as agreed
  • Communicates effectively with clients
  • Responds to clients request in a timely fashion
  • Assures legendary customer service at all times
  • Anticipates clients needs in proactive manner
  • Resolves problems in a timely manner
  • Walks through the job with client/sales at the end of the job; corrects any deficiencies within one week or as agreed
Personnel Development
  • Provides technical and professional leadership to crews
  • Provides daily detailed expectations to each crew member
  • Reviews work performance on an on going basis through performance planning
  • Responsible for an overall Career Development and Training plan to accommodate the training needs of each crew -member relative to the Greenscape Crew Competency Plan.
  • Monitors progress towards objectives and goals as outlined in the Greenscape Crew Competency Plan
  • Manages disciplinary actions and grievance procedures to resolve issues as quickly as possible
  • Provides one hour per week on-site training to each crew member
Administrative
  • Determines reporting time for leadpeople/crew depending on loading needs, etc and report to work 15 minutes before crew
  • Tracks labor and materials and processes proper paperwork (payroll timesheets, materials used, as builts, etc) in a timely manner
  • Tags equipment and completes and remits equipment repair sheets to Shop Manager/Shop technician for repairs needed in a timely manner
  • Informs Production Manager of repair requests
  • Insures that crew adheres to Greenscape uniform/dress code
  • Upholds all Greenscape policies and core values
  • Supports branch vision and performs accordingly

SKILLS
  • Demonstrated ability to read landscape and irrigation blue prints plans for comprehension and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability in irrigation system management, equipment operation and basic small engine field repair and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to read maps, give and follow clear directions
  • Knowledge of proper planting techniques per company quality standards
  • Proven knowledge of plant ID, the Greenscape Plant Care Guide and the ability to explain contents to clients
  • Organizational skills to manage landscape crews daily activities, coordinate additional personnel and equipment needed as well as work with purchasing on all needed materials
  • Leadership and employee development skills including professional development, reprimanding, conducting performance plans, terminations, layoffs, etc.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) particularly for conveying technical information to crew, peers and clients
  • Demonstrated positive approach towards customer service, co workers and subordinates
  • Must have a high level of motivation, enthusiasm, be a self-starter and perform daily under pressure
  • Ability to work without direct supervision for extended periods of time
  • Ability to create and sustain a productive team environment and build team consensus
